Elroy A. James for Civil District Court Judge
Elroy is a native of New Orleans, born at Charity Hospital. He is a product of the New Orleans Public School System, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Georgetown Law Center. He is the youngest of three children raised by their single mother. Elroy learned the value of hard work at a young age as he witnessed his mother having to work two jobs. He recalls his mother working as a short order cook at a bar and restaurant in uptown New Orleans and attending college to earn her college degree.

As a child, Elroy spent summers with his grandmother while his mother was at work. During those summers, Elroy's grandmother instilled in him the importance of family and of faith.

Elroy enjoys live music and played trumpet from elementary school to high school. He was drum major and trumpet section leader for his Jr. High School Band.
