First City Court
Elroy will work to break the barrier that exists between the judiciary and litigants.
First City Court oversees cases of civil lawsuits with claims up to $25,000; small claims suits up to $5,000; and evictions for residential and commercial properties with rental fees within the jurisdictional limit of up to $3,000 per month.
Elroy knows it is important the electorate knows that a judge values them. The composition of judges on First City Court for the Parish of Orleans should reflect the City of New Orleans. A resident of the city should know that there exists a judge on the bench who represents that resident’s life experiences.
Elroy will work to demystify the notion that those men and women who sit on the bench, sit too high to reach. Elroy will show that judges are human, individuals whose life experiences are like many residents of the city.
